Lina Kurlis, Psy.D. is a licensed Psychologist and Behavioral Medicine Consultant. She was born in Florida, raised in Germany, and despite having spent many summers on the East coast growing up, she decided to settle in beautiful Washington upon returning stateside. Lina received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice from the University of Washington Tacoma in 2013, her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Northwest University in 2017, and her Doctorate in Counseling Psychology in 2019, also from Northwest University. Having grown up abroad, moved between countries, and navigated cultural differences throughout her life, Lina has a strong interest in the role that culture, in its many facets, plays in health and well-being. Her graduate program provided training in several common evidence-based treatment modalities but emphasized an overall holistic approach to therapy that stressed the importance of biological, psychological, spiritual, and cultural factors. Lina maintained this holistic approach when she received further in-depth training in cognitive behavioral therapy through her pre-doctoral internship, and she consciously integrated individual cultural factors into assessment, treatment planning, and therapeutic interventions. Lina has worked with children, adolescents, adults, and families in various settings, and strives to tailor treatment to individuals’ unique experiences, circumstances, beliefs, values, and strengths.
