Lucia Carbajal is a family medicine resident physician who grew up in rural Idaho to Mexican parents. Her interest in practicing full-spectrum, rural medicine was rooted in observing inequities that occurred in healthcare among Spanish-speaking seasonal agricultural workers in her hometown. After attending Arizona State University for her undergraduate studies, she then completed medical school at the University of Washington School of Medicine as an Idaho WWAMI and TRUST student, which gave her the opportunity to rotate throughout rural settings in Idaho, Montana, and Alaska. She aims to provide patient-centered and gender-affirming care to all patients, with a particular interest in caring for marginalized communities that have often been neglected by the healthcare system.
