CVCH hires new Chief Medical Officer

Columbia Valley Community Health (CVCH) has selected Dr. Felipe Gutierrez as the next Chief Medical Officer, replacing Dr. Malcolm Butler; after twenty-five years of service and leadership Dr. Butler will return to his first love of caring for patients.  

Chief Executive Officer, David Olson commented, “After interviewing many candidates, our hiring committee was thoroughly impressed with both the expertise and experience that Dr. Gutierrez will bring to our organization and our community.”

Dr. Gutierrez formerly worked as the Chief of Infectious Diseases at the Phoenix VA, Gutierrez’s anticipated start date is set for the end of October. 

Dr. Gutierrez was born in Mexico and came to the United States as a small child. After graduating from the University of Arizona, he received a Masters in Public Health from the University of California, Berkeley, and a medical degree from the University of Utah. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine/Pediatrics in Phoenix and a fellowship in Infectious Disease at the University of New Mexico. He currently serves in the United States Air Force Reserve.
