Back to School Health Fair 2014Columbia Valley Community Health (CVCH) is holding its fifth annual Back to School Health Fair on Saturday, August 9, 2014, from 9am – 12pm in the parking lot of its Wenatchee clinic, located at 600 Orondo Ave.  For the second year in a row, CVCH is partnering with the North Central Educational Service District (NCESD) and the United Way of Chelan and Douglas Counties to provide backpacks and school supplies to school-aged children.

Children entering grades K – 12 must be present to receive a free backpack, which they may fill with age-appropriate school supplies by visiting booths of CVCH departments and community resources. This free family event is open to the entire community, and kicks off National Health Center Week (August 10 – 16, 2014), a national campaign meant to raise awareness about the mission and accomplishments of America’s Health Centers as local solutions to community health needs.

Over a dozen CVCH departments and 14 community organizations will have games, give-a-ways and provide information about their services and other health-related information.  CVCH medical staff will be available to provide "back to school" immunizations and sports physicals in its Wenatchee Express Care Clinic. Children seeking the required “back to school” immunizations or a sports physical are encouraged to make an appointment in advance by calling 509.662.6000. CVCH will bill insurance if available and fees may apply to physicals and immunizations.

Back to School Health Fair 2014CVCH provides the backpacks, with 200 donated from the First United Methodist Church of Wenatchee, and the NCESD secures the school supplies with funding and support from Office Depot, the NCESD Educational Foundation, North Cascades National Bank, United Way and Youth United, Wenatchee Sunrise Rotary and Ballard Ambulance. CVCH is thankful for their partnership and generous support.
