Specialty of Practice: Creative Arts Therapies

Megan is a therapist with a background in theatre who uses both verbal and action-oriented creative arts therapies as a means of unlocking inner struggles. The creative piece can include art, drama, play, and sandtray therapies.  Other specific orientations she implements include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Informed CBT, Person-centered approaches, and Family Systems work. Megan has particular experience working with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, suicidal ideation, and domestic violence.

In 2009, Megan completed her internship with Behavioral Health Resources in Olympia, WA, where she worked with children and their families, helping to facilitate parenting education groups and a teen circle group in addition to providing individual therapy.   From 2010 to 2013, Megan held a private practice in Tumwater, WA, where she worked as a couples’ counselor and provided additional contracted Family Preservation Services (FPS) case-management and therapy services in Thurston County.  That work entailed in-home counseling for families who were at substantial likelihood of having their children placed into out-of-home care due to abuse, neglect, and domestic violence.  Megan also has experience providing adult group therapy services specific to anxiety disorders and co-occurring disorders.
