Professional areas of Interest:

  • Research that helps push the boundaries of where psychiatry has been and some of where it still is.

  • Somatic medicine and therapies for trauma and wounds within all types of mental health conditions
  • Cultivating the creativity, strengths, and growth that come with societally atypical mental health experiences, instead of solely focusing on pathology
  • The intersection of spirituality, psychology, growth, and healing

Biography:

Marike L. Sannindi, ARNP, is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and NHSC Scholar. She was born in Maine and was a gypsy for a long while, living and working in all 4 corners of the country and in Alaska. Experience and education from an exploratory life – inside and out – finally settled her in nursing and specifically in mental health, believing it offered the best chance of being able to work from a wholistic picture and interconnection of related fields.

She is an EMT, and holds a prior degree in Psychology infused with a heavy dose of Anthropology. She’s been around the block working with others one-on-one, while studying, treating, and growing through her own inner journey. She left Seattle University in 2025 with a Doctor of Nursing Practice, aiming to further connect with and hold lights in the dark for those who have really been through it.

Her current big interests are hormones in mental health, somatic healing of trauma and internal blocks, and reframing psycho-emotional experiences in terms of how they fuel creativity, knowledge, and transformation for people – individually and societally. Well-versed in cross-cultural, integrative, and “alternative” approaches to healing, she is the most excited for where she sees collective human consciousness understanding, and thus, psychiatry finally moving—incorporating energy and soul.

Hobbies: (“What I do for fun”)

She is a highly creative person with a passion for both writing and the arts. Writing has always been an important outlet for her, and she still hopes to create something significant during her lifetime. She is also a visual artist who plans to return to painting once settled into her new routine, along with exploring metalwork sculpture. In her spare time, she enjoys playing the violin and is currently considering the idea of starting a podcast.

She is energized by big ideas and genuinely enjoys research, often diving into new topics simply for the joy of learning.

An avid animal lover, she feels most at home in nature. She enjoys hiking, camping, and spending time near the snow, rivers, and ocean. One of her favorite ways to relax is visiting hot springs with her closest friends.
