Richard Beukema, MD, is a family practice physician who is coming from Okanogan, WA, where he practiced for over eight years and was medical director of Family Health Centers.  He was born in Paris, France to American parents and lived there until nine years old, when he moved to Massachusetts.

During his childhood, he traveled regularly to visit his father who lived in southeast Asia.  He went to high school in the Boston area then attended Harvard College and was a springboard and platform diver.  After college, he moved to the U.S. Virgin Islands where he was an AmeriCorps member working with children in a group foster home. Subsequently, Dr. Beukema worked with at-risk teens in a wilderness intervention program in the Utah desert.  He returned to school in 1998 and attended Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia.  He completed his residency training and an Obstetrics Fellowship at the University of Utah. 

Dr. Beukema has cherished the opportunity to care for patients in Washington State and is looking forward to joining the spectacular team at Columbia Valley Community Health.  He looks forward to caring for patients at every stage of life.  He speaks Spanish and French.  He is married to a family physician and has two young boys who keep them busy biking, skiing, camping and paddle boarding.  

Hobbies: Taking two boys on outdoor adventures, cycling on and off-road, climbing, paddle boarding, alpine skiing in and out of resorts and nordic skiing.
